Welcome! I’m Linda and I’m so glad you stopped by.

I live in Lancaster, Pennsylvania in a very, very old farmhouse. Bushel & a Pickle is  my blog. I share life experiences, home, food, travel, family, faith and more!

My husband, Jim and I began our life together in Germany over 40 years ago where we both served in the US Army. We arrived single and departed 3 years later married and pregnant.

Thus began our lives together with many moves and many travels.

After Jim retired, we moved our family of five to China for a new career. We returned with a family of seven!

We adopted our two youngest daughters when we lived in China. Read that miracle story HERE. Eventually we returned to our 200 year old PA farmhouse.

Our faith, an integral part in our lives, has carried us through the years. We knew and we trusted God would lead the way and open doors for us.

Our home had been a place of welcome. Those visitors were from many countries and cultures. Many  wonderful conversations happened!

Not only did we lived in Germany and Asia, we also traveled a lot!  My sons counted continents, not countries as one of their competitions as teens. All three counted countries they visited.

After the girls graduated from high school we took them on a magical trip to Europe even if you count Amy’s bungie jumping in the Alps. Not sure I would call that magical.

Today, we are no longed scattered over three continents. Thankfully! Everyone lives with in easy driving distance which I love!

Jim and I are now empty nesters!
