Linda at Kentuck Knob
Welcome! I’m Linda and I’m so glad you stopped by.
I live a rich and full life in Lancaster, Pennsylvania in a very, very old farmhouse. Bushel & a Pickle (named for my daughter’s childhood saying) is my story of life experiences, family, travels and faith.
I’ve been a globetrotter nearly all of my adult life. More accurately, I lived and traveled to the east half way around the globe to Hong Kong and China, west to Germany and back again more times than I can even count. How did this happen?
My husband, Jim and I began our life together in Germany over 40 years ago where we met while serving in the US Army. We arrived single and departed there 3 years later married and pregnant. Thus began our lives together and many travels.
After Jim retired from the army, we moved our family to China for a new career. Recently, we returned to our farmhouse.
Our faith, an integral in our lives, has carried us through the years. We knew God would lead the way and open doors for us.
Each time we landed in a new place, the first order of business was to make our house a home. The second was to find our new community. A family must have a community! It was both scary and exciting.
Our home has also been a place of welcome for many from different cultures and countries. The rich conversations and laughter is wonderful. That meant lots of meals for a few to large groups. Good thing I like to cook! I have collected great recipes and tips for hosting from my mom, studying magazines and books and from my own experience.
I have been shaped by our experiences in so many special ways. And I love sharing that with you, my readers.
Recently, my family was described as cosmopolitan. I guess we are. Our view of the world is not typical. Not only have we lived in Germany and Asia, we have also traveled a lot! My sons counted continents, not countries as one of their competitions as teens.
God worked a miracle for us. While living in China, we adopted our two youngest daughters, who were sweet babies at the time and are now adults. I can’t wait to share this magical story of love with you.
We are no longed scattered over three continents. Our adult children live nearby. Two are married. Our daughter has 4 girls. I LOVE being a grandma!
It’s a lot – I know, but I can’t wait to share some of these stories and with you.
Life experiences beyond the home of my youth in Tennessee have shaped me from an eager young woman to being the older woman who enjoys walking along side younger women. I find great joy in encouraging and sharing my personal experiences with other women and this is why I blog.
Bushel and a Pickle is all about “home, family, faith and life.” Like all life stories, it is on going.
I have lots to share with you and I really want to encourage you to leave a comment when something touches you or if you have a questions, please be sure to get in touch with me. I promise I’ll get back to you.
And let’s get social on Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and Twitter.
