Grandma’s Delight is my theme this Christmas season!

I was a little short on inspiration this year. Usually, I am so full of ideas. Not this year. But you never know where inspiration may from come!!

When the bins were brought down from the atttic, I must confess. I was not sure how I would use those decorations to create a Christmas Home for us! Can we agree it has been a tough year for many of us. Christmas is the season of hope and joy. It is the celebration of the world being changed with the birth of Christ.

What happened for me was a surprise and a delight!

The bins were stacked up in the middle room. A few had been opened.

I had been slowly going through the bins to decide what to use. Or not! I do love Christmas time, the carols and celebrations. I love the decorations and gathering of friends and family.

I just wasn’t very excited about decorating this year.

All of our grandkids were at the house that afternoon for dinner and to help decorate.

I just didn’t know they would be ‘decorating’ my heart!

I started looking through the bins and pulling out decorations, bottle trees, mini trees and ornaments with their help.

When I saw the joy of my grandkids with the tree decorations in their hands asking, “Can we, can we decorate the tree Grandma?” Well, you know what I said! Of course!!

You never know where you will find your inspiration!I knew what to call this year’s Christmas season decorations….Grandma’s Delight!

grandkids decorate!

They looked through the bins and picked out what to hang and how to hang it. They did not want ribbon. They wanted the shiny string beads!

Red was the main color! All the woodland animals were hung. Each one took part in the decorating.

One thing I noticed; they weren’t missing or expecting more. They were enjoying the moment. They loved decorating the tree!

I decorated the dining room earlier but wanted to do something with the chandelier. As we say around the table to eat, I knew nothing more was needed. All of us aroung the table together made the room complete.

Suddenly, when I was seeing their smiling faces that Saturday afternoon as they looked through the decorations, I was enjoying their delight in the fun of going through the ornaments, decorating the tree and the bottle trees they took out of the bins. It was refreshing. I wasn’t so tired any more.

Smiles and love and happy hearts are good medicine for the heart!

Not sure how their mom felt about them walking out to the car with their bottle trees and the boxes of mini ornaments! I am sure about their joy!

Best of all, my own decorating expectations were realized! My grandchildren were showing me the joy of Christmas!

Our tree is just perfect!

I hope you’re feeling a little more like decorating this year. I am having one of those down years as we struggle with my husband’s health. He, however, is insistent that I decorate because he knows just how much I love it when it’s done. It’s the doing part that gets me exasperated. I will only put up three trees this year instead of four. Last year, we bought a huge tree, and I just can’t wrestle that thing down from the attic nor do we have room for it with the furniture pushed aside to make way for his wheelchair.

I love the looks of pure joy on your grandchildren’s faces. That’s truly what makes a tree special, isn’t it? Thanks for sharing this. I really needed it.

Marsha, I am so glad to hear that. I hope to get our daughter who is home this week to carry down bins and boxes. It’s too much for my husband I can’t carry them down stairs. The other one will come by after work on Friday or Saturday. I hope to enjoy it like you once We get going. Hope you do have a good Thanksgiving.
