Jim and I are constantly on the hunt for fun adventures and experiences to have with our grandkids. Sometimes our younger daughters are part of the adventures too.
Why experiences? Simple. They are fun for all of us!
So many adventures, so many choices!
all aboard for Local Adventures

All aboard for the Murder Mystery Train Adventure. Miss Peacock and Miss Scarlet are ready to pull out!
Based on a friend and employee of the Strasburg Rail Road, recommendation, we booked the Murder Mystery Train Experience.
Four of us went. Personally, I was thrilled Car 88 was air conditioned! I wouldn’t say it was our hottest day of the summer, but it was close.

Before we boarded, a stop at the Cafe 1832 for shared snacks to include French fries was in order. Actually we could have waited and ordered from Car 88’s snack menu. (it’s an extra charge).
I missed that because I didn’t read the information page throughly when booking the tickets.
One drink per passenger was included. The drinks menu was the usual non alcoholic, wine and 2 or 3 premixed drinks. Be sure to bring your ID. You will be carded per state law.

To elevate the fun of the experience for us, we dressed in CLUE character colors. Meg decided to go the extra mile!
Colonel Mustard was chosen by Jim because he had a mustard yellow polo. I went as Mrs. White in my summery white eyelet dress from Amazon purchased a few years ago.
Miss Scarlett AKA Meg accompanied Miss Peacock, our sweet girl, Emma. Meg decided to go the extra mile with a red satin dress (from Windsor at the mall) and ‘diamond’ jewelry!
After all Miss Scarlet was a flamboyant lady!

I’m pretty sure we will come up with a fun dress up experience for the holidays so we all can wear our glad rags. The red satin will be a perfect.

Car 88 is a lounge or club car. The chairs were arranged facing the rear where the drama took place. Small drink table were situated for ease of reaching. Small sofas were close to the action lined down the car.
Everyone had a good view. The actors were dressed in 1930’s costumes for the period murder mystery. Afterwards, the cast was available for photos.
Stone Cold Ice Cream Supper

One of several photos at great spot by the rails that we took. This one is next to the “”Escape Room”, another adventure on the Strasburg Rail Road.

Somehow the conversation on our way home turned to where is the Stone Cold Ice Cream Shoppe. Emma got to choose between that and Friendly’s. Guess which one she picked! PS. Friendly’s is a fun spot but for this adventure, Stone Cold Ice Cream fit the bill!
We all agreed that was supper.
What’s next for our adventure with grandkids?

We had fun! What will our next adventure be?
