My Uncle Son is having a milestone birthday on Saturday.

I have felt for several weeks now that I was supposed to go visit soon. It was a gentle Holy Spirit urging. It fit with my occasional longing to see them in person. Then the FB message came…wish you could make a quick trip and then I knew it was time.  While I have seen different family members though the years at funerals or a cousin’s,  there are some I have not seen in years and I mean years!  That is one thing I do like about Facebook. The opportunity to reconnect over the miles and years.  JIm will be overseeing the full weekend of activities for him and the girls.

JIm agreed without hesitation. He’s good like that.  Then Will was availbe to come too. Driver help for the 16 hour trip.

All of the kids of Granddad.  That means all of Uncle Son’s half siblings will be there.  My mom is in heaven.   Most of his kids will be there.  My borther can’t. Distance and time makes traveling tough for us adults.

Uncle Son. My mom was known as Sister and Aunt Mega. Her given name was Omega.  Yep.  That branch of my family have some unusual name. I never knew why.  My aunt was Vashti. She went by Ti or Titi.  Vashti, the queen who defied her king meaning certain death or at least being put aside forever.

He made me laugh.  He gave my son all the grape jelly he wanted on the licked off piece of toast on the deck of my folks’ home one sunny morning.  He and his family were an intergral part of my growing up.

Yes, good times ahead.  Now, let the fun begin!  Hope your week is a fun one too!

Have you had special reconnection with your extended family? What do you have planned for the weekend before Thanksgiving week?

blessings, linda
