Preserve me from faithless fears and worldly anxieties,
Words of encouragement, asking for God’s strength and preservation stuck me deeply when I read it last week. It is a prayer from Divine Hours Lent season entries.
Prayer has many different purposes wrapped in hope, needs, praise, anxiety and even fear. This one is part of the Lent morning readings Jim and I do nearly every morning together. After the wroitten prayers we add our personal ones.
This prayer really spoke both of us on different days. The words cover all of what is on our hearts these days. The difference this year…three C’s Covid, country and cancer.
Most loving heavenly Father, who will it is for us to give thanks for all things,
To fear nothing but the loss of you,
And to cast all our care on you who cares for us.
Preserve me from faithless fears and worldly anxieties,
That no clouds may hide from me the light of the love which is immortal,
And which you have manifested in your Son Jesus Christ our Lord who live and reigns with you.
In unity with the Holy Spirit, one God, now and for ever.
Amen

My prayer for you is that you will be as encouraged as I have been by this prayer.
